Job Overview

The Financial Administrator 1 is responsible for the assigned financial activities of a business unit within an

academic division. With oversight and guidance from the Business Manager or Business Administrator of the unit,

the Financial Administrator 1, will execute important financial tasks of the unit to ensure operational efficiency.

This role operates as part of team. Assigned duties are subject to change at the discretion of management and

the needs of the team, business unit or division.

Essential Functions

  • Assist with travel planning and expense reporting and guide faculty/students appropriately to adhere to the process
  • Process Accounts Payables and Accounts Receivables.
  • Purchasing for assigned departments
  • Process invoices to ensure timely payment and account coding
  • Process contractor payments in adherence with UC policy
  • Provide customer service to internal and external customers and partners.
  • Coordinate and monitor administrative duties.
  • Implement policies to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • May coordinate personnel functions for an operating unit at less than 25% of duties.
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need.

 

Minimum Requirements

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree must be in accounting or related field.
  • Four (4) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Experience

Related finance or accounting experience.

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Experience working with internal and external customers and partners.
  • Experience working with grants and contracts.
  • MS Excel skills (creating spreadsheets and using financial functions).
