Job Overview
The Social Media Manager informs and transforms the University of Cincinnati’s integrated marketing strategy through action-driving, scroll-stopping content across the official @uofcincy social channels.
With nearly 700,000 followers across primary platforms, UC’s social presence is a powerful engine for reputation, recruitment, and reach. This role leads both strategy and daily execution for the university’s official channels with a primary goal of transforming audiences into amplification, action and measurable impact.
This position may offer a hybrid or fully remote work arrangement for applicants residing in Ohio, Indiana or Kentucky. Remote work arrangements are subject to change in accordance with university policy.
Essential Functions
- Own and lead the university-wide social media strategy aligned to UC’s reputation, recruitment and reach priorities, serving as the primary steward of the official @uofcincy channels.
- Develop and execute action-driving social content strategies that convert key audiences — prospective students, employers, industry partners and community stakeholders — from awareness and engagement to measurable outcomes including inquiries, applications, partnerships and advocacy.
- Strengthen, protect and advance UC’s brand by expanding reach, shaping perception and increasing meaningful engagement across platforms.
- Identify and elevate UC accomplishments and authentic student, faculty and alumni stories by creating content that engages distinct audiences and drives measurable action.
- Monitor, engage and manage community interactions across platforms, fostering audience growth and strengthening brand affinity.
- Stay ahead of emerging social and digital trends, proactively recommending platform shifts, content innovation and strategic pivots while testing and implementing new approaches.
- Establish and manage ROI frameworks and performance measurement strategies; define key metrics tied to lead cultivation and campaign success; conduct ongoing analysis and deliver weekly and campaign-level reporting that clearly illustrates impact and informs optimization.
- Coordinate and execute university-wide social efforts in partnership with Marketing + Communications, the President’s Office, Enrollment Management and campus stakeholders for major institutional initiatives and events (Move-In, major athletic events, Decision Day, Graduation, high-level announcements, etc.).
- Monitor and assess user-generated content to identify brand risks and emerging issues; support crisis communication efforts through proactive monitoring, escalation and documentation of social sentiment.
- Lead monthly strategy and planning sessions to align content across UC’s 600+ social accounts while serving as the campus-wide authority on social strategy, policy and governance.
- Own and manage social media policy, account creation processes and feedback systems, ensuring institutional consistency and brand protection.
- Ensure ADA and Section 508 compliance while maintaining accessible, user-centered social channels.
- Manage and mentor Co-op 2.0 student(s) supporting social media and video content creation and may provide direct or indirect supervision of exempt and non-exempt staff as assigned.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Education
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Seven (7) years of relevant education, experience and/or other specialized training can fulfill minimum education and experience requirements
Required Experience
- Three (3) years of relevant experience.

Salary/Hourly Pay Rate Information: up to $65,000 annually based on candidate experience.
