Job Overview
The College of Medicine, Department of Urology, is seeking an Advanced Practice Providers to assume the urology office's clinical responsibilities. This position will support the University’s mission and commitment to provide excellent patient care.
Under our urology faculty supervision and mentorship, this role can expect to collaborate closely with our urology faculty and APP staff. This position will assist in providing comprehensive, continuous, and personalized care to patients in the Department of Urology. This position will be focused on general urology with the possibility of developing subspecialty urologic expertise under the mentorship and supervision of the urology faculty. Our urology faculty and urology experienced advanced-level providers will be available to teach and support the new candidate in assuming their clinical responsibilities, including an educational curriculum designed for all APPs.
Essential Functions
- Acquire patient history and perform physical examinations of our urology patients.
- Order and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic tests.
- Monitor the effectiveness of interventions.
- Prescribe necessary treatment and services for quality patient care.
- Perform office-based procedures within the scope of practice.
- Collaborate with other providers and members of the health care team in the delivery of care and make appropriate referrals when needed.
- Educate patients and families about medical conditions and treatment plans.
- Facilitate staff, patient, and family decision-making using evidence-based practice.
- Possible participation in research and development projects.
- Participate in the education of APP learners.
- Work collaboratively with residents, fellows, and medical students.
- Perform history and physical examinations in the outpatient setting; write progress notes and narrative discharge summaries.
- Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities.
- Maintain accurate medical records and complete in a timely fashion per department standards.
- Seek the consultation of supervising physicians when needed and participate in case/chart review.
- Participate in quality and safety initiatives.
- Complete all training in a timely fashion.

Nurse Practitioner:
Required Education
Master’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program
Required Trainings/Certifications
- Active Ohio APRN license with prescriptive authority.
- Active Board Certification in an appropriate nursing specialty.
Required Experience
- Three (3) years of nursing experience.
- Additional related work experience may be required depending on the specialty/sub-specialty.
- OR -
Physician's Assistant:
Required Education
Master's Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
Required Trainings/Certifications
- Active Ohio Physician Assistant license with prescriptive authority.
- Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

Additional related work experience may be required depending on specialty/sub-specialty.
