Company Descripton

Campus Services consists of all the non-academic business units that create a campus environment where all can study, live, work, meet, eat, park, shop, get fit, and stay. The marketing department supports and serves all those units, and also produces campus events. The role of Campus Services Marketing is to help translate prospect and customer/user needs into product and services solutions that help drive our business unit goals.

Primary Duties

The graphic designer co-op students will assist with designing visual communications for all Campus Services businesses, as well as campus partners. The department supports the efforts of Housing, Food Services, Campus Recreation, UC Bookstores, the Bearcat Card, Parking, Conference and Event Services, Printing and Duplicating and other business units providing services to the campus community (posters, flyers, digital signage, etc.).  Job duties include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Collaborating with team to develop print, social and digital communications.
  • Learning all design processes, branding procedures and assist in design campaigns.
  • Designing visually arresting collateral material, print products for various events at University of Cincinnati.
  • Creating design project logs on a regular basis to track ongoing and upcoming design projects.
  • Assisting team in identifying process improvement.
  • Designing:
    • Sketch thumbnails prior to creating concepts on computer.
    • Provide proofing and/or editing.
    • Assist in managing and updating Print/ Product as well an Onboarding Manuals.
    • Upload and update photos, graphics and collaterals.
    • Create compelling messaging and graphic/visual designs.
    • Stay abreast of design trends, social mediums, etc.
    • Perform various production duties based on departmental needs.
    • Collaborate with marketing team to discuss design ideas and attend hand off meetings.
    • Assist Sr. Designer to maintain project log sheet for all business units on a daily basis.
  • Photography and Image Manipulation
    • Photograph events as needed, source, edit and archive photographs. Students may be required to photograph events sometime after hours or on weekends per the event date.
    • Source stock photos and manipulate images as and when needed.
  • Social Media and Digital Signage: Project Execution
    • Create art for the marketing team to deploy for digital screen, motion and social media.
  • Skills
    • Collaborate with marketing team to discuss design ideas and attend hand off meetings.
    • Utilize Creative Suite (Cloud) to generate and edit finished products and ensure that all design work follows university branding standards; experience with animation and video editing a plus.
    • Edit/proof to ensure quality.
    • Organized able to handle multiple projects with competing priorities.
    • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Organizational skills to juggle multiple projects/design campaigns.
    • Experience with animations, photography, videography, Google, Excel, Word a plus.
    • Must be detail-oriented and possess excellent follow up skills.

 

Part-time positions are open during academic semesters as well as full-time co-ops.  The selected candidates may be invited to apply to return part-time during academic semesters.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be a student in Graphic Design/Visual Communication major or related field. 
    • Pre-Junior in Communication Design is preferred, but not required.
  • Must have one or more internships or positions in design or related field for at least three months (e.g., internship where primary responsibilities included creating artwork, design campaigns, managing design projects).
  • Enrolled at least part-time (6 credit hours for undergraduate students and 5 credit hours for graduate students), or will be a registered student during the next academic semester for work.

Hourly Pay Rate: 11.50
