Housing the most extensive mandatory cooperative education program and one of the best in the country (US News and World Report), the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) has established strategic industry partnerships. One of the 14 colleges at UC, CEAS has 8 departments offering 13 ABET-accredited degree programs. The College offers doctoral degrees in 11 programs, research-focused Master of Science degrees in 12 programs, and workforce-focused Master of Engineering degrees in 16 programs. Job Overview
The Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering and Construction Management (CAECM) of the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) at the University of Cincinnati (UC) invites applications to fill multiple full-time tenured/tenure track faculty positions to support the curriculum and research efforts of the department in the areas of Architectural Engineering, Structural Engineering, and Construction Engineering and Management. Applicants at all levels of professorship will be considered. Rank and tenure will be determined based on the candidate's credentials. Appointees will be evaluated for reappointment, promotion, and tenure based on criteria established by the CAECM department and CEAS.
The CAECM Department is comprised of a unique combination of degree programs encompassing the disciplines necessary to design, construct, and manage the built environment and infrastructure. The CAECM Department consists of 23 full-time faculty and 3 full-time staff and 2 part-time staff, and houses three accredited undergraduate programs with mandatory co-op: Architectural Engineering (175 students), Civil Engineering (374 students), and Construction Management (335 students). The CAECM Department also houses the Civil Engineering M.Eng. M.S., and Ph.D. graduate programs and the Architectural Engineering M.Eng. program with 83 graduate students. Architectural Engineering students can pursue M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Civil Engineering. The Department has strong educational and research programs in building systems, construction, geotechnical, pavement, structural, and transportation. Essential Functions
- Develop and teach courses specific to their specialty area (as noted above) at the graduate and undergraduate levels
- Conduct research in their specialty area, with great promise for sustained funding and of interest to the engineering community
- Engage in scholarly activities to secure research funds and establish/maintain an ongoing publication record
- Advise graduate and undergraduate students
- Participate in academic and professional service activities such as editorial review; student career mentoring; advising of student organizations; serving on departmental, college, and university committees; and performing outreach activities such as recruiting underrepresented students and holding workshops and seminars for industry
Minimum Requirements
Prior to effective date of the appointment, PhD in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field is required.
