The Media Communications & Technology Department at UC Blue Ash invites applicants for our Applied Media Communications Adjunct faculty general pool of candidates from which part-time faculty will be selected for the upcoming term (as needed).

About the Media Communications & Technology Department

The Media Communications & Technology Department (formerly Electronic Media) offers the Applied Media Communications AAS degree, one-year certificates, and technical courses spanning design, photography, video, audio, animation, motion graphics, interactive design, and web. The department is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD) and supports students who enter directly into media careers or transfer to media production baccalaureate programs such as UC’s College-Conservatory of Music or College of Arts & Sciences.

Job Overview

This part-time faculty member will teach freshman- and sophomore-level courses across a range of media disciplines, including:

 

  • Media Design Foundations (graphic design principles, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
  • Photography (camera operation, lighting, digital post-production, Adobe Photoshop)
  • Video Production (camera operation, lighting, editing, Adobe Premiere Pro)
  • Audio Production (recording, mixing, sound design, Pro Tools or similar DAWs)
  • Web Design I & II (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, GitHub, frameworks, content management systems)
  • Animation (2D/3D animation, motion design, Adobe Animate, Toon Boom, Maya/Blender)
  • Motion Graphics (visual storytelling, typography, Adobe After Effects) 
  • Job preparation (professional practice, portfolio development, emerging technologies)

 

Adjunct faculty members will be expected to (1) use our course management system (Canvas) and any textbook-specific systems; (2) hold regular office hours to meet with students and reply to student communications in a timely manner; and (3) participate in at least one professional development workshop per year.

 

Courses may be offered in person (day or evening) or asynchronously online. This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship.

Essential Functions

  • Teach assigned undergraduate courses on a part-time basis.
  • Prepare weekly course modules and related instructional media.
  • Evaluate student coursework and provide timely feedback.
  • Support student learning and department goals.
  • Review and respond in a timely manner to all University-related and student communications.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical media field such as video production, web development, media design, photography, animation, audio, or a related discipline.

Required Experience

  • At least two (2) years of professional media production experience.

  • At least one (1) year ot teaching experience in a college setting is preferred.

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Master’s degree in a media discipline or related field.
  • Experience teaching or working in multiple areas of applied media.
