Job Description

 

Provide a welcoming presence and excellent customer service to visitors, and administrative support. The Receptionist is supervised by and reports to the Executive Director

 

 

Specific Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Greet visitors, answering questions or directing visitors to appropriate staff
  • Answer incoming calls and connect caller to appropriate staff, taking messages as needed
  • Make sales in our retail art shop, including handling cash, processing credit card transactions, and keeping through recipts / records
  • Provide accurate information about current exhibit in the gallery and upcoming events to visitors, as requested
  • Assist wiht administrative tasks such as bulk mailings and prepping event materials
  • help manitain a clean and safe environment by doing light cleaning tasks such as dusting, sweeping, clearing snow, organizing supplies and kitchen cleaning

 

Required Skills

  • Position requires a conscientious, reliable student with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must be comfortable answering and speaking on the telephone, dealing with the public, and using office equipment
  • Must have reliable transportion
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and prior exeperience with customer service desirable

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Recipient of work study award based on financial need and must be admitted into a degree program.
  • Must be enrolled at least part-time (6 credit hours for undergraduate students and 5 credit hours for graduate students), with the exception of summer quarter, or will be a registered student during the next academic quarter/semester for summer work.
  • Student workers must meet the enrollment requirement for the entire quarter
  • Must be age 16 or older
     

Work Hours

Students will be expected to work 10 to 20 hours per week on Tuesdays, Wednesday, Thursdays and / or Fridays between the hours of 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Specific schedule to be determined

 

Pay Rate

$12.00 per hour
