Job Overview
The Department of Classics in the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Cincinnati invites applications for a one-year non-renewable position as a Visiting Assistant Professor in Classics, with specialization in Roman History or Historiography. The appointment will begin on August 15, 2025. Teaching duties will include a variety of undergraduate courses in Greek and Latin, and one large introductory undergraduate course in Roman History. A Ph.D. in Classics or a related field by the time of the appointment is expected, although we will also consider advanced Ph.D. candidates.
Essential Functions
- Teach undergraduate courses in Ancient Greek and Latin.
- Teach a large undergraduate course in Roman History.

Engage in research activity in a field related to Roman History or Historiography.
- Engage in appropriate professional development opportunities.

Minimum Requirements
- Doctoral Degree in Classics or a related field, completed or expected within one academic year.
- In-depth knowledge in the field of Roman History or Historiography.
- Teaching experience in Ancient Greek, Latin, or Ancient History.
