Job Overview

The College of Arts & Sciences invites applications for two Success Coach positions to work in our Academic Services Advising Office.  These new positions will provide support and outreach for students toward college success including support and referrals in academic, financial, and social contexts.

Essential Functions

  • Provide personalized outreach routinely – such as phone calls, text messages and emails – regarding high school to college enrollment transition, registration, advising, financial aid, and personal responsibility.
  • Meet 1:1 monthly with each student to provide specific support or assistance on an individual basis; refer students to applicable support resources.
  • Check academic and financial status of students and follow up as needed.
  • Facilitate up to four (4) sections of bi-weekly zero credit hour courses or workshop series for a group of approximately 20 students each on topics including navigating financial aid, personal goal setting, time and task management, physical and emotional wellness, etc.
  • Maintain data on outreach, student interactions and engagement in the coaching program through UC appointment scheduling system and student information system.
  • Facilitate monthly cohort celebrations/socials.
  • Participate in meetings pertinent to program planning, modification and continuous improvement.
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need.

Required Education

Bachelor's Degree.

Required Experience

  • One (1) year of experience working with college students or within higher education.
  • Demonstrated experience working with ethnically and culturally diverse students or populations in a college or university setting.
  • Knowledge of educational barriers facing underrepresented students.
  • Comfortable with the use of technology including Microsoft Office applications and social media.

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Ability to create partnerships at the university and in surrounding local communities.
  • Demonstrated program/event planning and management experience.
  • Exhibit a collaborative and team building approach, as well as an innovative approach to student activities coordination and facilitation.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  • Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.

Additional Information

  • These positions are 75% FTE and require full-time work (40-hours per week) from August through April, and require no work during the months of May, June and July
  • These benefits-eligible, hourly positions will pay between $20-$21 per hour; are 75% FTE; and pay on a bi-weekly payroll schedule.
