The International Programs Office is looking for an Study Abroad Advisor with a focus on supporting UC’s faculty led programs. Description: The Study Abroad Advisor will join a team of seven full-time professionals dedicated to study abroad within UC International. UC International is the university-wide unit, within the Office of the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs & Provost, for serving international students and scholars, education abroad students, as well as the development of the university's international strategic planning. 

 

The Study Abroad Advisor will provide general support to faculty-led study abroad programs behind the scenes to provide seamless program communication and planning. This position will communicate with faculty leaders and students regarding program policies, deadlines and application status. As a primary function, this person will be mentored and trained to provide program logistical support, managing monetary transactions and other associated administrative tasks.

 

UC International seeks to continue to run highly organized and well-run programs with outstanding customer service. UC International will look to the selected candidate for new ideas, suggestions and best practices about how to maintain and achieve these goals via our behind the scenes operations.

 

This position is for a three year appointment with the possibility of re-appointment based on mutual agreement and continued funding.

 

Salary Range is $32,000 - $36,000 based on education and experience level.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support faculty-led study abroad programs behind the scenes to provide seamless program communication and planning.
  • Manage monetary transactions, including collection and disbursement of funds, credit card payments, wire transfers, and checks; advise faculty leaders on currency exchange rates. 
  • Collaborate with other areas of UC and individual faculty who lead departmental and institutional short-term study abroad programs with a focus on the logistical aspects of education abroad programming.
  • Collaborate with faculty and students regarding program policies, procedures, deadlines, etc.
  • Communicate with overseas colleagues and service providers to coordinate student services related to programs including flights, hotels and other logistical arrangements.
  • Communicate with other campus administrative units such as Financial Aid, Registrar, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned 

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with one (1) year experience; -OR- Associates’s degree with three (3) years experience; -OR- five (5) years experience. Experience must be in educational advising/working with students in an educational setting.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to interact with faculty, students, administrators, and others in a highly professional manner (mostly via email and some phone calls)
  • Experience using the standard suite of office software, primarily MS Office with strong navigation of MS Excel
  • Must be motivated, proactive, detail oriented and independent in the completion of job duties
