The University of Cincinnati's Department of Business Core Systems (BCS) Catalyst Application Services is currently seeking an IT Manager Sr.  Under general supervision from a designated administrator, this position will primarily be responsible for managing the Catalyst Software Application Development team, a team of highly skilled developers and delivering complex internal system development projects across a variety of products and technologies using the PeopleSoft Campus Solutions ERP system, branded as Catalyst. Translating user technical needs (systems analysis and development) into technical solutions by creating, modifying and/or supporting software applications, integrating systems, and web-based applications.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Management and professional development of a team of highly skilled developers
  • Effective management of the software application lifecycle
  • Manage the delivery of multiple complex simultaneous system development projects from design through release
  • Capable of understanding and contributing to the technical solution from design through code review
  • Work closely with the BCS Catalyst Application Services Director, Business Systems Analysts and System Administrators to produce accurate delivery estimates and manage the transition from analysis through design and delivery
  • Provide regular progress updates to and work closely with the BCS Catalyst Application Services Director to ensure the management of any delivery risks or issues
  • Participate in reviews and meetings and provide updates on project progress
  • Take responsibility for ensuring that risks and issues are identified and managed closely
  • Work closely with relevant teams internally to ensure alignment and coordination across operations as part of the seamless implementation of existing and new systems
  • Contribute to post implementation reviews helping to demonstrate success or otherwise of projects
  • Assist with project resource scheduling and department capacity planning
  • Be an active participant in making key decisions to ensure the successful implementation of all projects and initiatives

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a relevant degree and two (2) years related experience  -OR- a Bachelor’s degree with four (4) years’ experience –OR- an Associate’s degree  with six (6) years’ experience; -OR- eight (8) years’ experience. 
  • Experience and/or training include advanced level experience and possesses broad and deep knowledge of own area and related areas and contributes through advanced knowledge, skill and experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with PeopleSoft Campus Solutions and PeopleTools development tools
  • Experience with effective staff management, performance evaluations, and the ability to lead and influence others
  • Proven experience in leading and managing the delivery of system/software development projects in a structured environment
  • Experience in technical requirements gathering, analysis techniques and process improvement approaches
  • Strong communication and coaching skills
  • Excellent organization skills and ability to prioritize and carry out multiple tasks
  • Able to influence and drive projects to meet key milestones and overcome challenges
  • Comfortable working without routine supervision
  • A desire to remain technically capable and an expert in current technologies
