Leading strategic recruitment support to assigned client groups at UC, this role is responsible for applying life-cycle recruitment best practices for various roles throughout the organization, as well as supporting field-based recruitment outside of central Human Resources. Working with the Manager of Talent Acquisition, will own and implement innovative recruiting strategies, provide market intelligence to drive outcomes, and collaborate with hiring managers to source key individuals, attract passive talent and deliver qualified candidates.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute strategic recruitment plans for mid to senior level hires and partner with various hiring managers to actively recruit qualified and diverse talent in a timely manner.
  • Support and assist decentralized business units with recruitment activities as assigned and needed.
  • Promote diversity and inclusion throughout the university through consultative transactions and recruiting interactions.
  • Liaise with hiring managers to obtain required vacancy information, attain required approvals, and create requisitions.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and establish ongoing relationships with business units to understand market trends and recruitment needs, and fill job vacancies in a timely manner.
  • Interact with the Office of Equal Opportunity and Access (OEOA) by acting as a resource and liaison between search committees, business units, and campus partners to advance our commitment to equal opportunity and affirmative action, by:
    • Partnering with stakeholders to create a solid recruitment plan that outlines an effective recruitment strategy to recruit diverse talent and address underutilization.
    • Obtaining approvals for recruitment plan or recruitment waiver (when appropriate).
    • Ensuring documentation of the search process and retention of search records.
    • Reviewing and analyzing applicant pool demographics to ensure good faith efforts.
    • Providing oversight and assistance throughout the process keeping OEOA apprised.
  • Utilizing full life-cycle recruiting concepts tailored to our community, execute searches by:
    • Overseeing recruitment plan and posting strategy, and making recommendations.
    • Developing and implementing creative sourcing strategies to attract applicants and build talent communities, including job postings, lead generation, social media, and networking.
    • Effectively screening candidates to assess skill set and assisting with interviews.
    • Actively managing and engaging candidates to ensure a consistent and positive experience.
    • Conducting references and background verifications.
    • Finalizing offer specifics and participating in onboarding (when needed).
  • Remain current of leading edge recruitment practices by participating in educational opportunities, professional organizations, and networking.
  • Responsible for adhering to UC and HR Records and Retention Schedules.
  • Represent UC at career fairs and other networking events.
  • May provide oversight of other exempt and non-exempt staff.
  • Perform other related duties to support the effort of the TA team and HR as needed.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of five (5) years experience -OR- Associate’s degree with seven (7) years of experience.
  • Degree must be in business, human resources, or related discipline.
  • Experience must be in full life-cycle recruiting expertise supporting mid to senior level recruitment.

  • Effective interpersonal skills including strong presentation, verbal, and written communication.
  • Self-motivated with excellent customer service, reputation of reliability, and solid work ethic.
  • Ability to apply a consultative approach, effectively manage expectations of stakeholders, while building relationships with hiring managers, search committees, and leadership.
  • Capable of influencing and building strong business partnerships internally and externally.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the user/candidate experience with an ability to engage and cultivate relationships.
  • Skillful using social media and multi-channel resources to influence and attract applicants.
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail, and ability to work at a high pace with competing and changing priorities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with a high degree of integrity.
  • Willing to perform daily administrative tasks, ensuring accuracy and compliance, in addition to providing overall general support for TA team members.
  • Solid understanding of recruitment marketing and using metrics to drive action.
  • Proficient with applicant tracking systems; experience with SuccessFactors a plus.
