Job Overview
Serve as the Certifying Official for Veteran Affairs students at the University of Cincinnati. Provide information and service to students and staff visiting the Veterans Programs & Services.
Essential Functions
- Provide specialized customer service to members of the various branches of the United States Military, Veterans, and their eligible dependents. Relate relevant and accurate information in-person, electronically and by telephone for all inquiries.
- Advocate for students by providing information about the university and assisting the VA regional offices in the administration of programs and certification of Veteran students enrolled.
- Resolve problems regarding eligibility and payment of VA benefits. Submit and update enrollment certifications, process enrollment information in the university's student information and the VP.:s information systems. Coordinate various VA reports.
- Provide current and accurate information to students and staff related to G.I. Bill benefits and appropriate financial aid programs; assist students in the application process for benefits and completion of eligibility requirements.
- Communicate with all departments about changes to federal and state regulations and university policies pertaining to Veteran students.
- Maintain the university's policies and procedures manual and catalog to effectively communicate guidelines that apply to Veteran students concerning eligibility, academic progress and award amount.
- Enter Veteran student records and maintain accuracy of the university's database. Work closely with Financial Aid, Student Accounts and the Cashier's Office to ensure students' financial records are accurate. Maintain files for all Veteran students.
- Maintain knowledge and adhere to stated Department of Veterans Affairs, government and financial services policies and procedures, and applicable federal and state regulations.
- In the absence of the Program Manager and/or the Program Coordinator, supervise Veteran Work Study student(s).
- Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.
Required Education
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Five (5) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
Required Experience
One (1) year of related experience.
