The College of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Nephrology, Kidney CARE Program, is currently accepting applications for a full-time research scientist.   This position will support the University’s mission and commitment to excellence and diversity in our students, faculty, staff and all our activities.

The Research Scientist will participate in the development and design of research projects, protocols and experiments on various topics. Modify and adapt experimental protocols, techniques and procedures to specific project requirements. Design, coordinate and conduct experimental procedures. Prepare research results and written summaries of results in manuscript form for publications and in graphics form for presentation at research meetings and for grant proposals. Maintain and ensure compliance with regulatory protocols and records.

  • Maintain and ensure compliance with regulatory protocols and records.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • A Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate related discipline and three (3) years of progressively responsible related professional research experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • A Master’s degree in an appropriate related scientific or other relevant discipline may be substituted for up to one year of the required work experience.

 

Preferred Requirements 

  • A PhD degree in ion channels and transporters and five (5) years of professional experience in this field.
  • Research experience in ion channels and immunology with a focus on solid malignancies and autoimmunity is preferred.
  • Experience with functional assays and translational research is preferred.
  • Ability to interface with the clinical setting and to work in a team is considered a plus
