About the Department

The programs within the University of Cincinnati's College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP) are, year-after-year, ranked among the very best in both a world and national class. Job Overview

A part-time Research Associate position is available in the Extended Reality (XR) Laboratory of Professor Ming Tang, College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning.   

Essential Functions

  • Collaborate with XR lab’s partner teams and learn from the domain experts   in building safety and risk assessment
  • Utilize analytical thinking   and skills to identify possible solutions for evaluating building roof safety. 
  • Assist in designing and developing machine learning models, assessing their performance, and creating an image database for AI training 
  • Evaluate model performance and develop an image database for training 
  • Perform data analyses and reporting on the quantifiable assessment data related to roof damage and other roof conditions 
  • Will also have the opportunity to be involved in research grants in collaboration with leading industry companies.

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, computer science or related field.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  • Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
  • Sitting - Continuously
