The Department of Cancer Biology at University of Cincinnati is seeking a motivated research assistant to work in the laboratory of Dr. Krushna Patra.  The research focus of the Patra lab is to understand the interplay of cellular signaling and metabolism in the tumorigenesis processes. This position will be involved with the active research relating to the development and treatment of pancreatic and other gastrointestinal cancer.

The employee will work very closely with and receive direct training from Dr. Patra and other members of the lab, which may include postdoctoral fellows, graduate students and clinical fellows. The primary duty of the position is to assist in performing experiments related to tissue culture (maintenance of cancer cells and organoids), molecular biology (DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, cloning, biochemical assays and, western blot) and mouse models of cancer (mouse breeding, genotyping, surgery, tumor cell implantation and tissue harvesting).


Additional duties include ordering and organizing lab supplies to run the lab smoothly. Under supervision, the candidate should able to perform experiments according to the protocol, keep records of experimental results, and analyze data.


Position Qualification: The position requires a minimum Bachelor's degree in any biological sciences discipline or equivalent level of knowledge.


Ideal Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint
  • Prior experience with molecular biology laboratory research is a plus.
  • Experience handling laboratory animals
