Job Overview

The Madala Lab is seeking a skilled technician (Research Assistant or Senior Research Assistant) to study fibrotic lung diseases using methods for immunostaining, molecular biology, and pre-clinical animal models.  The research themes of the lab are to understand novel mechanisms and druggable molecules involved in fibroblast activation, and fibrosis using a combination of biochemistry, immunology, molecular biology, flow cytometry, genomics, preclinical mouse models, and human tissue samples. The laboratory has identified several growth factors, cytokines, and transcription factors involved in fibrotic lung diseases.


Candidates with a strong background in biochemistry are encouraged to apply. Candidates with a strong motivation for translational research but limited experience are also encouraged to apply for excellent learning opportunities in a collaborative environment.

Essential Functions

  • Perform experiments and record data according to research protocols.
  • Interpret data and assist in judging the validity of data. May perform statistical and graphical analysis of data.

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Five (5) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Experience

Additional related work experience may be required depending on field or discipline.

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Experience in immunohistochemistry, gene cloning/editing, preparation of viruses, and maintenance and genotyping of mice.
  • Understanding of best practices for rigorous and reproducible analysis and methods development.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  • Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
