The College of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hematology-Oncology, is currently accepting applications for a full-time, research assistant.

 

Job Summary:

Applies professional knowledge, skills, and training to help conduct and experimental research work in a particular discipline.

 

Job Duties:

Perform experiments according to established procedures, to make accurate observations, to record test results, and to analyze data.  Specific research projects include (1) Protein expression using living organisms. (2) Radiolabeled protein production and purification. (3) Protein-lipid complex preparation. (4) Cell-based bioassay for cell viability. (5) Radio- and bio-therapeutic, pharmacokinetic, and pharmacodynamic studies in tumor-bearing animal models.  Adhere to all regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures related to safety and infection control.  Plan, communicate, initiate and complete projects independently or seek cooperation from others as appropriate.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a profession/field or equivalent level of knowledge.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.S. degree with a proven record of research achievements in the studies of biochemistry, molecular biology, and radiochemistry.
  • Effective verbal and interpersonal communication skills. 
  • Ability to relate to diverse age and demographic backgrounds.
  • Capable of understanding and following verbal and written instructions.
  • Demonstrate high clerical accuracy, attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and an independent work initiative. 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (word processing, spreadsheet, and database).
  • Sufficient analytical ability to compare data; mathematical ability to perform algebraic calculations and statistical analysis. 
  • Ability to operate laboratory equipment and have knowledge of scientific terminology and sterile technique.
  • Capable of meeting time demands necessary to execute experiments.
  • Carries out all assigned tasks with skill and efficiency.
  • Self-motivated individual who gives priority to problem solving.

 

This position will be a professional position paid at an hourly rate.
