About the Office of Research

Sponsored Research Services (SRS) Electronic Research Administration (ERA) in the Office of Research supports all SRS websites, Bearcats Landing pages, electronic portals, and the database. This includes maintenance and training on the Kuali research database.

Job Overview

The Proposal, Preparation, & Electronic Research Administration Support position is the primary contact for grant proposal submissions for smaller colleges and departments across the university. It is also a vital part of the maintenance of the electronic database and other systems that are used by the faculty and staff to manage grants from external sponsors. May include assisting the Assistant Director of ERA with data cleaning and reporting.

Essential Functions

  • Assist with training end users on Electronic Research Administration systems.
  • Provide proposal support in the electronic research system for the areas in the university that do not have a dedicated grant administration staff.
  • Provide award review and account set-up for assigned sponsor awards.
  • Perform Authority Organizational Representative (AOR) responsibilities for the areas within the university that do not have proposal submission authority within the college.
  • Serve on committees related to business rules for processing and managing grants awards.
  • Serve as back-up support to Sponsored Research Electronic Administrator Sr for end users of the database and activity dashboard.
  • Assist Asst Director Electronic Research Administrator with testing new functionality in current systems, as well as, testing new systems. Assist with training university-wide users on electronic systems.
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree must be in business administration, database administration or related field. 
  • Six (6) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Experience

Two (2) years of database management and award administration.
