Job Overview

The Living-Learning Communities (LLC) Manager is a full-time, live-on professional staff member that manages the day-to-day responsibilities of the Living-Learning Communities program in Resident Education & Development. This position works directly with the Assistant Director of Academic Initiatives to develop, plan, and implement the LLC program by establishing campus and academic partner relationships. This includes attending monthly LLC meetings, planning all-LLC partner meetings and all-LLC programming for students, and serving as the main point of contact regarding the LLC program. This role requires working occasional evening and weekend hours. This role is key to successfully supporting the bridge between academic and student affairs.

Essential Functions

  • Manage the day-to-day planning and implementation of the LLC program by working with academic and campus partners to establish and maintain individual communities.
  • Communicate with students, faculty, staff, campus partners, and community partners regarding the goals and successes of the LLC Program.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for questions from families, students, faculty and staff regarding the Living-Learning Communities program.
  • Plan events and opportunities for the larger LLC program including transportation and logistics.
  • Coordinate and execute occupancy/housing assignments for all LLC students in collaboration with University Housing.
  • Recruit students to join LLCs, including participating in all Admitted Bearcat Days, creating and maintaining promotional materials, and involvement in summer orientation.
  • Manage the LLC website and LLC application in StarRez in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Academic Initiatives.
  • Provide direct supervision of graduate assistants; and indirect supervision of Community Coordinators and Resident Advisors working with Living-Learning Communities.
  • Design and facilitate departmental training and workshops for professional and student staff specific to the residential curriculum's needs. 
  • Implement and interpret assessment techniques regarding student learning, training experiences, and program initiatives.
  • Design and execute comprehensive review process for LLC effectiveness including: a process for adding new LLCs as well as “sunsetting” LLCs that are not meeting goals and objectives.
  • Review learning goals and outcomes to develop action steps for program improvement.
  • Manage budget responsibilities for the LLC program.
  • Serve on the Management Team on-call rotation for the entire residential population.
  • Must be able to work occasional evening and weekend hours.
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need.

Required Education

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Seven (7) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

  • Three (3) years of relevant experience

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Master's degree in College Student Affairs, Higher Ed Administration, or related area.
  • Three (3) years of residence life experience, as a graduate or professional staff member. 
  • Previous experience working with residential curriculum, Living-Learning Communities, and/or academic initiatives are ideal.

  • Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
