Job Overview

The Student Wellness Center empowers students to make informed decisions regarding their health and wellness by providing evidence-based education, inclusive resources, and non-judgmental support.

 

The Student Wellness Center Program Manager will manage, develop, and evaluate comprehensive wellness prevention efforts with a focus on mental well-being. In addition, the Program Manager will manage a new Student Wellness Center space, including scheduling events, assessing student outcomes, and overseeing operations. This may require working some evenings and weekends, as well as possible on-call hours.  The Program Manager will demonstrate an understanding of contemporary best practices and research in health and wellness, including mental well-being.

Essential Functions

  • Manage, design, develop, modify and present programs.  Perform program needs assessment and make recommendations.
  • Implement policies and procedures. 
  • Maintain budget, prepare contracts, approve and monitor expenditures, prepare budget requests and financial reports. 
  • Act as liaison to internal departments, external entities and community organizations.
  • May prepare and edit reports and/or newsletters and develop publication materials.
  • May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need.

Required Education

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Seven (7) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Experience

  • Three (3) years of experience in program development or business administration.
  • May require supervision experience.
  • Master's degree in public health, health education, social work, higher education and student affairs, or a related field.
  • CHES/MCHES certified.
  • 2 years of related experience working with health and wellness issues in a collegiate setting.
  • Demonstrated understanding of contemporary best practices and research in health and wellness, including mental well-being.
  • Excellent project management skills: ability and willingness to manage flexible workload, multiple tasks, and to work occasional evening and weekend hours.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Experience and commitment to public health and social justice change models.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and work effectively with students, faculty, and administrative constituencies.
  • Experience working with a variety of social media platforms.
