Job Overview

Plan, design, evaluate, modify, and coordinate programs for a department or college.

 

This position will manage student workers and GA hiring, onboarding, and scheduling. As the Program Coordinator, this position will also cross-train on various processes and procedures to provide support/coverage for other staff. (GradTracker and Catalyst processes including, but not limited to, transcript processing).  Some other duties include providing support for the Graduate School's professional development programming, supporting the creation of new programming and the expansion of existing programming, supporting Graduate School staff with on-campus events, such as hooding ceremonies, professional development events, and recruiting events (ex. GS Conference), and managing Graduate School awards, including: the Graduate Student Health Insurance (GSHI) Award; Dean's Dissertation Completion Fellowship; CGS/ProQuest Distinguished Dissertation Awards; MAGS Distinguished Thesis Award; Excellence in Mentoring Award; Editorial Assistance Awards; and Excellence in Teaching Award for GAs. Coordinating official for the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program.

Essential Functions

  • Design/create and conduct seminars, classes, workshops or programs.
  • Develop program objectives and monitor quantitative and qualitative data on progress toward objectives. Review objectives to identify problems and solutions, prioritize solutions and develop action steps for program improvement.
  • Provide financial administrative support for program initiatives.
  • Develop, administer and analyze assessment/evaluation questionnaires. Compile statistics and prepare reports.
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to recruit students and program participants.
  • Interact with staff faculty, external agencies and other university departments.
  • May conduct research and analyze relevant literature, other benchmark information to develop grant proposals, new program ideas and propose program changes.
  • May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need.

Required Education

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Five (5) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Experience

One (1) year of program coordination experience.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  • Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
