Job Overview
The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine is excited to announce the creation of an inaugural Chair position within the Department of Urology, which officially became the college's 24th academic department on July 1, 2024. This transition marks a significant milestone, as the Department evolves from its previous status as a division of the Department of Surgery, a change that aligns with a national trend of elevating urology divisions to departmental status.
The new Chair will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the Department of Urology, which currently consists of 6 full-time faculty members, 10 residents, and 7 advanced providers. There is close coordination between the Departments of Urology at the Veterans Administration Hospital (4 full time faculty) and Cincinnati Children's Hospital (6 full time faculty). With a vision for rapid growth and expansion, the Department is poised to gain national recognition and attract top talent in the field. The Chair will have the opportunity to foster an environment of financial and operational autonomy, promoting innovative research, high-quality patient care, and educational excellence.

Essential Functions
- Key priorities for the new Chair will include expanding the Department with new hires and building on prevalent subspecialties in Urology.
- A major priority is working with the University of Cincinnati Cancer Center leadership to build a center of excellence to address the genito- urinary cancer needs of the community.
- It also involves enhancing collaboration with Cincinnati Children’s Hospital to strengthen residency training and support pediatric-to-adult transition programs.
Minimum Requirements
- Hold an M.D., D.O., or a combined M.D. degree such as M.D./Ph.D.
- Meet the qualifications for the academic rank of Professor.
- Obtained board certification in Urology.
- Currently holds or is eligible for a medical license in the State of Ohio.
Additional Qualifications Considered
- The successful candidate will possess significant experience leading and managing an academic unit in a complex environment.
- They will demonstrate the interpersonal skills that will ensure successful relationship building with leadership, as well as the faculty and staff of the Department and other units.
- The Chair will be a transparent, accessible and transformative leader with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with the various external and internal stakeholders.
