We are seeking an experienced and motivated individual for a position in the Translational Neurophysiology Lab at the Department of Neurosurgery, University of Cincinnati. Research will focus on the study of spreading depolarizations (aka spreading depression) in experimental models of acute brain injury. This includes both stroke and brain trauma, large (swine) and small (rodent) animal species, and acute and chronic recording preparations.

 

There are also opportunities to participate in clinical research using electrocorticography and EEG to monitor spreading depolarizations in the neuroscience intensive care unit. Specific responsibilities will be tailored to the individual’s interests and skills.

 

Duties will consist of, but are not limited to, designing, performing, and analyzing studies pertaining to these areas of research. The ideal candidate will have experience in experimental neurophysiology, possess strong analysis and writing skills, and be able to work independently and in team efforts.

 

This position will support the University’s mission and commitment to excellence in biomedical research and brings many opportunities for collaboration across clinical and basic science on one of the most exciting new topics in brain injury. The initial Post-Doctoral Fellow appointment will be for 2 years.

 

Minimum Qualifications: PhD, MD, or MD/PhD, or foreign equivalent degree
