The basic science research laboratory of the Division of Urology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine currently has a research postdoctoral fellow position open. Our research lab focuses on the role of sphingolipids in infectious processes, specifically looking at the role of sphingolipids in bladder infections. The study will utilize a murine in vivo model to evaluate the ceramide/acid-ceramidase/sphingosine pathway and its response to infection.
This project will be ideally suited to a postdoctoral fellow with ability to establish hypotheses and apply research principles, concepts, methods, and techniques in the research field to generate and interpret results that can be used in grant proposals and publications. Should be able to independently perform background and preliminary research to develop scientific hypotheses and methods to test them; evaluate results and present data at research meetings and/or for grant proposals. Basic analytics should include cell culture, immunohistochemistry, western blot analysis, and flow cytometry. Animal skills will include rodent handling, catheterization, euthanasia, surgical techniques for removal of organs, tissue, and urine post mortem from rodents.
Minimum Qualifications: PhD, MD, or MD/PhD
