Job Overview

The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine is recruiting a Post Doc Fellow or a research associate to work in the lab of Wei Shi, PhD. The incumbent will work on the funded research projects, particularly focusing on lung mesenchymal cell biology and pulmonary diseases (such as interstitial lung diseases). This person will conduct research experiments and analyze research data, ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of the University of Cincinnati.
Essential Functions
- Engage in appropriate training and professional development opportunities.
- Conduct research experiments independently in a particular field.
- Gather and analyze data and develop new ideas that promote current research.
- Prepare data summaries, reports, manuscripts and presentations of research results.
- Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentation; may learn and assist in grant writing.
- Keep informed of developments in field to maintain and enhance professional expertise.
- Train in lab management, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies, as needed.
- May teach techniques to others, train, and mentor junior research staff.
- Play an active role in seeking career and research advice, both from the faculty supervisor and from other faculty members as well.
- Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.
Required Education
Doctoral Degree in the appropriate field or discipline, or the recognized terminal degree, or the foreign equivalent.
Required Experience
- In-depth knowledge of specialized field, process or discipline.
- May require experience with specialized software programs.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
- Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
