Job Overview

The Optical Sensors Lab (Strobbia research group, www.strobbialab.org) in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Cincinnati is currently accepting applications for a post-doctoral associate position. Our lab focuses on developing innovative optical sensing solutions to current critical issues in human health, with a particular focus on deployable technologies. Our current research projects aim to the development surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) sensors and relative detection systems for the detection of infectious diseases and water contaminants.

This is a one-year appointment that may be renewed to additional one-year terms, contingent upon available funding and satisfactory performance.

 

Essential Functions

The successful candidate in this role, will conduct independent research focused on developing and testing SERS sensors and construct Raman optical devices.

Required Education

Completion of a PhD in Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or related discipline is required by the appointment date.

Additional Qualifications

  • Background in spectroscopy and optics, preferably in Raman spectroscopy or surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS).
  • Experience in synthesis and characterization of metal nanomaterials (e.g., metallic nanoparticles)
