Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, Department of Cancer Biology, is hiring for a full-time Postdoctoral Fellow to join the Fan Laboratory (https://researchdirectory.uc.edu/p/fanyb). The Fan lab has major research interests in vascular biology, metabolism and tumor microenvironment. We currently focus on the elucidation of molecular mechanisms underlying vascular diseases and tumor angiogenesis using a combination of molecular, cellular, genomic and mouse genetic (conditional knockout, transgenic and mutant knock-in) approaches for the studies and translational research.
 

Positions are temporary appointments as a research trainee.  Appointments shall not exceed five (5) years; however, short extensions may be granted when necessary to complete a critical research project. 

Essential Functions

  • Conduct research experiments in a particular field within the pre-determined research scope and methodology.
  • Gather and analyze data and develop new ideas that promote current research.
  • Prepare data summaries, reports, manuscripts and presentations of research results.
  • Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentation; may assist in grant writing.
  • Keep informed of developments in field to maintain and enhance professional expertise.
  • Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies, as needed.
  • May teach techniques to others, train, and mentor junior research staff.
  • Engage in appropriate training and professional development opportunities. 
  • Play an active role in seeking career and research advice, both from the faculty supervisor and from other faculty members as well. 
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.

Required Education

Doctoral Degree in Physiology, Biology, or a related field, or the recognized terminal degree, or the equivalent foreign equivalent.

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Research experience in vascular diseases, angiogenesis, or tumor microenvironment. Prior experience in animal studies and surgical procedures.
  • Experience in independently designing and conducting experiments.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  • Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
