Job Overview
As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the UC College of Medicine has a strong reputation for training best-in-class health care professionals and advancing cutting-edge research that improves patient outcomes. Applications are invited for a Post Doctoral Fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Moises Huaman at the University of Cincinnati, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases.The clinical and translation research program led by Dr. Huaman focuses on prevention and control of infections of public health relevance and understanding and mitigating downstream effects of infections on non-communicable diseases. This position will conduct research experiments on the intersection between infection, translational immunology, and cardiometabolic diseases to understand how infections impact cardiometabolic risk. Essential Functions
- Conduct research experiments in a particular field within the pre-determined research scope and methodology.
- Gather and analyze data and develop new ideas that promote current research.
- Prepare data summaries, reports, manuscripts and presentations of research results.
- Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentation; may assist in grant writing.
- Keep informed of developments in field to maintain and enhance professional expertise.
- Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies, as needed.
- May teach techniques to others, train, and mentor junior research staff.
- Engage in appropriate training and professional development opportunities.
- Play an active role in seeking career and research advice, both from the faculty supervisor and from other faculty members as well.
- Attend meetings as assigned
- Review and/or prepare, improve and implement research protocols and procedures for experiements conducted in the research lab.

Required Education
Doctoral Degree in the appropriate field or discipline, or the recognized terminal degree.
Required Experience
- In-depth knowledge of specialized field, process or discipline.
- May require experience with specialized software programs.
Additional Qualifications Considered
- Excellent oral and written comunication skills.
- Meticulous source documentation skills.
- Proficiency in various comuter software applications preferred, including specialised software programs such as Flow Jo, Prism BioRender, EndNote.
- Prior experience with high dimensional flow cytometry is ideal.
- Prior experience with human-based immunologic studes is ideal.
