Job Description:

The CNP is to provide advanced nursing care across the continuum of services to patients of the UC Hospitalist Group at West Chester Hospital. The CNP provides guidance, direction and assistance to the nursing staff in attaining and maintaining optimal quality of nursing care to patients. The CNP follows a collaborative practice model promoting the holistic and comprehensive care of the patient. She/he will assist the attending physician/clinical manager with ensuring patient care and practice and meet regulatory agencies’ standards. The short-term goal is patient stabilization and minimization of complications. The long-term goal is to restore the patient to optimal health, to identify and evaluate risk factors in achieving the desired outcome, promote autonomous decision making and provide for death with dignity.


Minimum Qualifications, Nurse Practitioner: A Master's degree in Nursing and graduation from an ANA approved Nurse Practitioner Program. Three (3) years nursing experience. Current/valid RN license in the state of Ohio prior to start. Valid certification as a Nurse Practitioner.


Position Specific Details:

Position reports to the Director, UC Hospitalist Group at West Chester Hospital with day to day supervision by the attending hospital physician; Supervising physician is always present.


Night Shift Position with the following anticipated schedule: 

·         Work Schedule:  5 days ON, 9 days OFF

·         Hours:  Sunday through Thursday, 7pm to 7am, 12 hour shifts

Primary responsibilities:

·         Provide support to the attending physician(s) in assessing/admitting patients from the Emergency Room (or direct admission) to the hospital

·         Respond to pages from nursing and ancillary staff re: acute needs of admitted patients as they arise overnight

·         See hospitalized patients at the bedside when acute needs requiring such assessment are determined.
