The Primary Care Network is looking for a Nurse Practitioner licensed in the state of Ohio to provide clinical effort at the Timothy Freeman, MD, Center for Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). The Freeman Center strives to be a national leader in providing specialized, coordinated, patient-centered care to adults with IDD. Preferred applicants would have experience working with adults with IDD. 

Essential Functions

  • Provide primary care to adults with a variety of intellectual and developmental disabilities including autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, and many rarer syndromes.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team.
  • Communicate with multiple specialists within the health system to coordinate care.
  • Document findings, plan, and actions taken according to departmental guidelines and standards.
  • Diagnose disease or study medical conditions using techniques such as gross pathology, histology, cytology, cytopathology, clinical chemistry, immunology, flow cytometry, and molecular biology.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic tests. 
  • Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of interventions. 
  • Maintain a working knowledge of relevant medical/legal issues that impact on patient care.
  • Maintain records and statistics in accordance with department policies.
  • Attend and participate in staff, committee, department, and other administrative meetings.
  • Participate in department's continuous quality improvement efforts.
  • Provide education to other health care professionals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education

Master’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.

Required Trainings/Certifications

  • Active Ohio APRN license with prescriptive authority.
  • Active Board Certification in appropriate nursing specialty.

Required Experience

  • Three (3) years nursing experience.
  • Additional related work experience may be required depending on specialty/sub-specialty.
