Job Overview

The College of Medicine, Department of Anesthesiology is looking for a Nurse Practitioner for the Center for Perioperative Care (CPC). This position will support the University’s mission and commitment to excellence and diversity in our students, faculty, staff and all our activities. The Center for Perioperative Care is a hospital-based outpatient clinic staffed by members of the Department of Anesthesiology.  The clinic has two locations, one at UC Medical Center, the second at West Chester Hospital.  This position will be required to work at both locations with a focus at the West Chester Hospital clinic.  The clinic operates Monday – Friday.

Essential Functions

  • Perform appropriate history and physical for complex, acute, critical, and chronically ill patients preparing for surgery.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic tests.
  • Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities.
  • Maintain accurate medical records.
  • Collaborate with other providers and members of the health care team in the delivery of care and make appropriate referrals when needed.
  • Educate patients and families about medical conditions and preoperative treatment plans.
  • Facilitate staff, patient, and family decision-making using evidence-based practice.
  • Participate in research and development projects.
  • Participate in the education of nurse practitioners, nurse practitioner students, and medical students.

Required Education

Master’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program

Required Trainings/Certifications

  • Current/valid APRN license with prescriptive authority to practice in the state of Ohio. 
  • Active Board Certification in appropriate nursing specialty.

Required Experience

Three (3) years nursing experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Qualifications Considered

Experience working in perioperative care.
