Job Overview
Hoxworth Blood Center (HBC), University of Cincinnati, was founded in 1938 and serves more than 30 hospitals in 18 counties in Southwestern Ohio, Northern Kentucky, and Southeastern Indiana. Annually, Hoxworth collects more than 100,000 units of blood from local donors to help save the lives of patients in area hospitals. Hoxworth Blood Center: Saving Lives Close to Home. HBC is located within the College of Medicine and is the only Regional Blood Center owned and operated by a University in United States.
The Hoxworth Blood Center is recruiting a full-time (100% FTE) Manager in the Department of Product Management, to manage the daily operations of product management services to ensure uninterrupted services, provide constant and direct regulatory oversight and operational continuity over product management and blood component distribution. This position will support the University's mission and commitment to excellence in our students, faculty, staff, and all our activities.

Essential Functions
- Provide leadership to the department with emphasis on blood and blood component inventory control, management, and distribution to over 24 associated labs and regional transfusion services.
- Manage the daily departmental activities to assure uninterrupted delivery of laboratory services.
- Manage all aspects of logistical inventory control, reconciliation, management, and distribution.
- Manage all aspects of blood and blood component ordering, order receipt, order fulfillment, fill rates, distribution, and turnaround times based on federal, state, and local government laws, regulations, and standards.
- Maintain departmental software, equipment, supplies, and materials used in the inventory management and distribution of blood and blood components.
- Perform appropriate qualification of newly purchased, revised, and/or repaired instruments, equipment, and software prior to use in inventory control, management and distribution.
- Assist with departmental processes, procedures, quality control, equipment calibrations and maintenance, and daily technical reviews to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Ensure staff training and competency at defined intervals of employment or changes to policies/procedures.
- Assist with contracts and bids, department budget expenses and revenues, software licenses, and standing resource orders.
- Support and assist the Medical Services department with training and education.
- Support Hoxworth Blood Center’s safety, cGMP and Quality Plan.
- May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).

Required Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Biological Science or related field.
- Seven (7) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
Required Experience
Three (3) years of experience in the health care industry or related logical shipping industry.
Additional Qualifications Considered
- One (1) year of direct supervisory experience managing employees, teams, or assets is ideal.
- MT/MLS (ASCP) certification or equivalent laboratory certification.
