About UC Blue Ash
The Veterinary Technology Department at the University of Cincinnati, Blue Ash College is now accepting applications for a part-time Laboratory Associate position. The University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College is one of the largest regional colleges in Ohio. The college is in Blue Ash, Ohio fifteen miles north of the uptown campus, on 135 acres in a park-like setting. We offer primarily associate degrees in career and transition programs, as well as general education courses and technical baccalaureate degrees to approximately 5,100 students. Job Overview
The Veterinary Technology Laboratory Associate will supervise and train students during laboratories while assisting the faculty with their teaching duties. This position will also have duties associated with animal care and facility maintenance.
This will be an hourly paid part-time professional staff position with a full-time equivalency (FTE) ranging from 50% to 80% (dependent on candidate’s preference.) This position is eligible for benefits starting at 75% FTE. Expected working hours may cover both day and evening to assist in teaching labs. Weekend on-call duties may occasionally be required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
Essential Functions
- Assisting students in teaching laboratories covering topics such as patient care and handling, anesthesia, surgery, radiology, clinical pathology, large animal, and dentistry.
- Record keeping & regulation compliance.
- Equipment maintenance and cleaning.
- Off-site student supervision and off-site agency visits may also be required.
- Participate in meetings and office work.
- Perform related duties based on program need.
Required Education
Associate degree in veterinary technology from an AVMA-accredited school.
Required Trainings/Certifications
Registered as a Veterinary Technician in the State of Ohio (or be immediately eligible for registration once hired.)
Required Experience
One (1) year of clinical veterinary experience is required.
Additional Qualifications Considered
- Bachelors degree graduate from an AVMA accredited school of veterinary technology
- Demonstrated recent, clinical experience working in small animal medicine, anesthesia, and assisting with routine surgical procedures including spay/neuter
- Three (3) years of clinical veterinary experience
- Experience in dentistry, diagnostic imaging, and working in the clinical laboratory
- Formal teaching experience
- Experience with large animals and/or laboratory animals
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
- Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
