Job Overview
The Center for Cyber Strategy and Policy (CCSP) at the University of Cincinnati seeks a highly motivated graphic designer, who will create high-quality graphic design stills and motion graphics (optimized for video) for a research think tank based at the University of Cincinnati dedicated focused on national and international cybersecurity strategy.
This full-time position serves as a collaborator working closely with Faculty, Research Affiliates, Graduate Fellows, and Graduate Assistants to translate complex cybersecurity concepts through graphic design and motion. The graphics and motion assets created will be used in various mediums for the Ohio Persistent Cyber Improvement for Local Government Project (O-PCI), funded by the State of Ohio through a U.S. Department of Homeland Security Cyber and Infrastructure Security Agency State and Local Cyber Improvement Grant. This individual will work with staff on conceptual designs for the visuals required and then independently develop graphics that meet staff's requirements within established and often tight timelines. The individual must also adhere to the UC accessibility policy as well as branding guidelines.
The Center for Cyber Strategy and Policy is located at the UC Digital Futures building, Innovation Campus (3080 Exploration Avenue) and the position requires onsite office work.
Essential Functions
- Utilize knowledge of current graphic design software to produce visual material.
- Generate, proofread and edit finished product and ensure that all design work follows university branding standards.
- Maintain design standards for all material produced; stay abreast of technological advances in the field; recommend alternate approaches to design and production for cost-effective printed materials; maintain records and files.
- Consult with clients on requested projects; make recommendations and decisions related to design, ideas, approach, costs, technical specifications, etc.
- Liaison with printers, suppliers, etc. for assigned projects; write all specifications for printing, supplies, bids, etc.
- Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.
Required Education
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Four (4) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
Required Experience
Experience in graphic design or related field.
Additional Qualifications Considered
Work Experience in related field—minimum 2 years that includes:
• Motion design
• Video production
• 2D Animation
• Sound design and mixing
• Software experience with Adobe Suite, including:
- Adobe Illustrator
- Adobe After Effects
- Adobe Premiere Pro
- Adobe Photoshop
