Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati James L. Winkle College of Pharmacy houses distinguished faculty, committed students, and pioneering researchers dedicated to enhancing medications and their impact on health outcomes.

 

The college is seeking a Grant Administrator 2 to engage in the day-to-day administration of specialized activities related to grant administration and reports to management, provide recommendation and advice to management or other groups on process related topics and conduct or carry out work procedures and activities in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations as well as university financial and administrative policies. Major duties will include administrative, fiscal, grant, and general duties.

Essential Functions

  • Assist faculty, research staff, and/or students with the processing of financial transactions for federal, state, and private grants, contracts, and any other external funding sources.
  •  Post-award duties include award set up and management for financial and regulatory compliance, meeting regularly with Principal Investigators for expense reporting and projects, and processing reports and transactions, including subcontract activity for the full lifecycle of sponsored program administration.
  • Implement policies that reflect continuous oversight and review of sponsored project funds to ensure that all financial transactions are in compliance with university policies and funding agency guidelines.
  • Advise faculty and research staff with the financial management of sponsored projects to fulfill project-related expenditure goals and objectives, subaward issuance.
  • Work directly and collaboratively with the various offices of the university to fulfill all expenditure/compliance requirements and resolve complex issues that arise through the duration of a sponsored award.
  • Assist faculty, research staff, and/or students with proposal preparation and submission to external agencies. Initiate grant proposals in various sponsor portals, enter data directly into portal applications or append required files.
  • Dependent on skill level, may be required to function as a University Authorized Organizational Representative to submit proposals on behalf of the university by required deadlines.
  • Assist in training entry-level staff in the department unit to adhere to standards of compliance with sponsored project requirements; disseminate knowledge of UC-based financial systems and applications to achieve financial objectives.
  • Complete routine work for grant applications; follow standard principles and systems and use appropriate terminology associated with a particular field of specialization by continuously building on current job knowledge.
  • Provide recommended approaches to assigned work to facilitate achievement of desired results and maintain effective relationships with peers, vendors, and others in different environments.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations on business operations to help improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Interpret information, ideas and instructions and communicate clearly and accurately both verbally and in writing including materials intended for distribution.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Determine causes of unusual occurrences and apply standard principles and practices to determine and implement solutions.

Required Education

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Six (6) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Experience

  • Two (2) years of grant and/or finance-related experience.
  • Knowledge of Uniform Guidance.
