About the Office of Research
The Office of Research (OoR) Sponsored Research Services Grants and Contracts department (SRS G&C) is a central, non-financial post-award office responsible for the review, negotiation, and approval of grant and contract awards from government, industry, and non-profit sponsors. The Sponsored Research Services Electronic Research Administration (SRS ERA) department assists with all SRS databases, websites, and electronic portals. This includes maintenance and training on the Kuali research database.
Job Overview
The SRS G&Cs department is looking to hire either a Sponsored Research Administrator 1 (SRA) for the Grants and Contracts department or an Electronic Research Administrator 2 (ERA) for the ERA department. Both positions provide grant administration support to the greater UC research community. The SRA 1 position is entry level, while the ERA 2 position is expected to be well versed in grant administration and will be responsible for activities related to proposal preparation and the administration of multiple electronic databases and collaborator portals.
This will be a hybrid or remote position based on candidate's preference.
Essential Functions
Sponsored Research Administrator 1 - Grants & Contracts:
- Assist faculty and staff with administering federal,state, and private grants, contracts, and external funding sources.
- Oversee and ensure compliance of grants.
- Implement policies to ensure compliance with funding agency regulations.
- Oversee proposal preparation and submission process.
- Requires a high level of reading comprehension.

Sponsored Research Electronic Administrator 2:
- Provide proposal support and submission in the electronic research system for the areas in the university that do not have a dedicated grant administration staff.
- Provide award review and account set-up for assigned sponsor awards.
- Serve on committees related to business rules for processing and managing grants awards.
- Serve as back-up support to Sponsored Research Electronic Administrator Sr for end users of the database and activity dashboard.
- Assist with training end users on Electronic Research Administration system.
- Management of Federal agency and collaborator electronic portals.

Required Education
Sponsored Research Administrator 1 - Grants & Contracts:
- Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, public administration or related field.
- Four (4) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
Sponsored Research Electronic Administrator 2:
- Bachelor's Degree must be in business administration, database administration or related field.
- Six (6) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
Required Experience
Sponsored Research Administrator 1 - Grants & Contracts:
- Grant administration customer service or office administration
Sponsored Research Electronic Administrator 2:
- Two (2) years of database management and award administration.
Additional Qualifications Considered
Sponsored Research Administrator 1 - Grants & Contracts:
- Paralegal experience, database management experience.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
- Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
