Major duties

  • Work directly with the Assistant Dean to intentionally increase the retention and persistence rate in the College of Arts and Sciences
  • Partner with College Possible Coaches and campus Champions to help first generation and pell-eligible students succeed
  • Assist with programming/workshops and serve as a touch-point for second year students
  • Assist with recruitment, retention, and persistence of Choose Ohio First (COFS) and Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) Scholars
  • Work collaboratively with the Inclusive Excellence and Community Engagement (IECE) Office to execute the vision and mission of the COFS and LSAMP programs
  • Monitor and track student progress each term and make recommendations as needed
  • Work directly with Ethnic Programs and Services (EPS) to ensure students utilize the Faculty/Professional Staff mentoring program beginning in the second year
  • Conduct assessment of student satisfaction and programmatic improvement
  • Develop, plan, and implement year-long programs and events
  • Conduct research and attend workshops to aid in student development
  • Draft and submit annual report sent to Assistant Dean
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Position Description

Under the leadership of the Assistant Dean (Academic Services), execute and implement programs design to help retain and graduate undergraduate students. Create and execute programming in
a manner designed to target specific student populations. Evaluate and measure student success outcomes as needed. Work closely with academic advising leadership and other unit staff to coordinate program
planning and delivery.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be registered for at least twelve graduate credit hours each quarter of the academci year
  • Must meet eligbility criteria published by graduate progrms that make awards and appointments
     

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required with at least one-year experience working with undergraduate STEM students, first generation and/or pell-eligible and other undergraduate student populations.


Ideal Qualifications

A&S Graduate student preferred. Experience in academic advising and other student support services. Candidate must also be able to demonstrate leadership in working with under-represented
students, first generation, and pell-eligible students. Knowledge of Microsoft office specifically excel is required.
