Under the supervision of an assistant professor of clinical law, the Forensic Science Review Attorney will review decades of case work of a retired forensic analyst.  Working from a list of cases, the attorney will review the methods and conclusions of the analyst in a diverse array of forensic disciplines. The selected candidate will gather public records and transcripts and review them to determine the significance of the analyst’s testimony in the case.  As appropriate, the attorney will consult with appropriate independent experts regarding the analyst’s methodologies and conclusions.


  • Working with an assistant professor, the attorney will identify cases that are appropriate for litigation. In those cases, the attorney will work with the assistant professor and, in some instances, second-year law students, to draft post-conviction documents and litigate the cases to their conclusion.
  • The attorney will keep detailed records of the status of the cases under review.  This person will also coordinate the Ohio Innocence Project’s efforts with various partners in this venture, the Office of the Ohio Public Defender.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  J.D., and one of the following:  admission to practice law of Ohio (or admission no later than December 1, 2017), eligibility for temporary certification for practice under Ohio S. Ct. R. Gov. Bar IX, or eligibility for admission without examination under Ohio S. Ct. R. Gov. Bar I § 9.


ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:  Experience with or coursework in innocence or post-conviction law; experience with or knowledge of forensic sciences.
