About the School of Information Technology

The School of Information Technology is a national leader in studying solutions and needs that connect people, information, and the technology of the time. The SoIT is home to Ohio's first Master of Science, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Information Technology. It is home to Ohio's first ABET accredited Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity. The SoIT has been growing at 19% annually and currently serves more than 1,740 students with 29 full-time faculty members, 20 full-time staff, and 30 part-time faculty. The SoIT is home to several centers including an NSA/DHS Center for Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense, the Information Technology Solutions Center, the Ohio Cyber Range Institute, Applied Machine Learning and Intelligence Center, and the Civic Technology Center.

About the Ohio Cyber Range Institute

The Ohio Cyber Range Institute (OCRI), housed at the University of Cincinnati on behalf of the state of Ohio, provides administration of the Ohio Cyber Range (OCR) in advancement of the OCRI’s mission as a cybersecurity education, workforce, and economic development platform. The OCR is a state-wide tool that supports programming for K-20 courses and events; full-spectrum training opportunities, including incident response teams; industry workforce and economic development; cyber security research; as well as government agency support among other programs.   

About the Job

The School of Information Technology seeks to hire an Executive Staff Assistant, whose principle workload will be to support the Ohio Cyber Range Institute (OCRI).  This is a grant-funded position; the continuation of this position will be based on the availability of funds and the continuation of the grant.

 

The position is housed in the School of Information Technology (SoIT) and integrates with its mission and strategic plan. The position works within the OCRI governing structure and reports to the OCRI Executive Staff Director and the SoIT Director.  
 

In general, this role will support the OCRI mission and executive staff leadership. In particular, the role is responsible for assisting the OCRI executive staff leaders in scheduling and supporting meetings and events. In addition, the role will support OCRI operation through entering information into different software applications used in the school (Concur, SAP, Website), managing logistics and providing support for events and meetings, responding to public inquiries about the OCRI, maintaining inventory, and maintaining the professional appearance of the OCRI’s office.
 

The Executive Staff Assistant is expected to maintain the highest level of professional competency and to contribute to the success of the School’s strategic plan (https://cech.uc.edu/schools/it/about-us/strategicplan.html), while assisting OCRI staff as needed, and collaborating with the different teams in the SoIT to achieve their program goals.

Job Overview

Under general supervision from a designated administrator, the Executive Staff Assistant will assist in the planning and coordination of administration and/or operational activities of substantial variety and complexity in the OCRI.

Essential Functions

  • Gather and evaluate information and assist in determining priorities.
  • Coordinate and evaluate procedures.
  • Coordinate the use of facilities and equipment.
  • Perform research concerning procedures and practices, identifying problems and recommending solutions.
  • Serve as liaison for administrator in the interpretation of policies and procedures.
  • Represent administrator on committees and attend meetings on behalf of administrator.
  • May coordinate personnel transactions.
  • Receive and reconcile expense statements.
  • Review and monitor expenditures on supplies, equipment, etc.
  • Perform other related duties based on departmental need.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with one (1) year experience; -OR- Associate's degree with three (3) years’ experience; -OR- five (5) years’ experience.
  • Experience must be in high-level administrative support.

 

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Understanding of the administrative functions, academic programs, and requirements of a university.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced complex environment.
  • Proficient in Office Applications such as (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).
  • Degree at the bachelor level.
