About the Office of Research

The Office of Research accelerates research at University of Cincinnati and economic growth in our region by connecting industry, government, and community leaders with UC thought leaders and innovators. The Office of the Vice President for Research (VPR) oversees the offices collectively held under the areas of Research Advancement and Research Support.

Job Overview

The Executive Staff Assistant will provide general administrative support for the Office of the VPR staff. Duties include calendar scheduling; meeting/event preparation; managing supply inventory; office maintenance (call for service/create work orders); making travel arrangements and organize/prepare travel/expense reimbursements; providing backup for other support staff in the Office of Research. The ability to be flexible, collaborative, adapt to the changing needs of the Office of the VPR, efficiently prioritize work, communicate effectively, and excel at time management are significant attributes to be successful in this position.

Essential Functions

  • Gather and evaluate information and assist in determining priorities.
  • Coordinate and evaluate procedures.
  • Coordinate the use of facilities and equipment.
  • Perform research concerning procedures and practices, identifying problems and recommending solutions.
  • Serve as liaison for administrator in the interpretation of policies and procedures.
  • Represent administrator on committees and attend meetings on behalf of administrator.
  • May coordinate personnel transactions.
  • Receive and reconcile expense statements.
  • Review and monitor expenditures on supplies, equipment, etc.
  • Perform other related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.

Required Education

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Five (5) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement

One (1) year of relevant work experience
