The University of Cincinnati, Department of Internal Medicine, seeks a Director for the Division of Cardiovascular Health & Disease.  The division is growing and provides comprehensive clinical services at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center (UCMC), West Chester Hospital, the Cincinnati Veterans Administration Medical Center (VAMC), and other affiliated institutions.

The Division of Cardiovascular Health & Disease currently has a faculty of 45 and 21 fellowship positions matching the clinical services of the program. The hospital-based practices have total revenues in excess of $12 million. UCMC is a quaternary referral center and also the safety net hospital for the Cincinnati tri-state area in cardiac care, including coronary and peripheral intervention, electrophysiology, heart failure and heart transplant.

 

The Division Director will occupy the Mable Stonehill Endowed Chair at the Associate or Professor level.  She/he will coordinate and expand programs in cardiovascular research, while working with colleagues in Cardiothoracic Surgery, Anesthesia and Critical Care Medicine, and the UC Heart and Vascular Institute to grow UC Health-based cardiac programs.  Scientific resources available include institutional cores for embryonic stem cell work, mouse cardiac physiology, and high-throughput genotyping.

 

The research and education programs, in conjunction with the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and the UC College of Medicine, span several basic and translational areas. Examples include grants and programs under the direction of Drs. Christy Holland, Litsa Kranias, Andrew Redington, Jeff Molkentin, Sakthivel Sadayappan and many others.  The current grant budget within the division is $3 million (Directs).

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Candidate should have an MD/DO or MD/PhD degree, be a widely recognized premier clinician, educator and clinical investigator in basic, translational or clinical cardiovascular research, and have the skills to lead a large academic division in a collaborative fashion.
