Job Overview
The Director Academic Student Advising will provide direct oversight in the administration of the Transition Advising Center with responsibility for team supervision, strategic planning, policy and results related to advising and student success. This role requires a strategic leader with a strong background in student services, a passion for advising and student success, and the ability to cultivate a collaborative and supportive environment within their team and across campus. The Director will participates in the development and implementation of transition advising, effective case management strategies, coordinates support resources, and leads efforts to promote advising, retention and a positive student experience.
Essential Functions
-Responsible for development, implementation and administration of goals to achieve strategic advising mission and objectives set at university and unit levels; assume management responsibility for Transition Advising program and priorities associated with advising, student success and retention; decisions and quality of execution have significant impact and influence service delivery at an academic college or central level.
-Leverages data and analytics to evaluate the impact of case management initiatives and implement data-informed decisions aimed at enhancing student outcomes; manage processes to increase student advising support; responsible for policy and curricular execution and results that enrich the student experience; formulate and communicate major policy changes affecting students and university partners; and participate in cross-functional policy development.
-May assist with college/unit level student affairs issues.
-Responsible for collaborating efforts with administrative and academic units and acts as liaison between the student, parent, college, student affairs and other appropriate university partners; communicate and assist students, parents, university partners in resolving questions and complex issues; represent the university internally and externally.
-Develop, implement and monitor budget, as authorized; may have authority for revenue and expense planning and approving expenditure; has signature authority as "accountable officer" for programs within area of responsibility; reports on budget status to higher level administrator.
-Prepare reports, disseminate/interpret information, provide consultation, deliver presentations, and ensure that Transition Advising program and services comply with university policies and state/federal regulations. -Oversee equity and inclusion strategies for the advising unit. -Serve on university, college and departmental committees and represent the department at various state and national associations. -May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).

Required Education
Master’s Degree
Required Experience
- Seven (7) years of academic advising or student services leadership.
- Two (2) years supervision experience.
