Job Overview

The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Infectious Disease, is hiring a Clinical Research Professional I/II to provide patient-centered services to Infectious Diseases Clinic individuals living with HIV/AIDS and underserved populations. This role combines community outreach, components of on-site case management, and health education to ensure patients access medical, psychosocial, and supportive services. This position works collaboratively with healthcare providers, community organizations, and internal teams to promote continuity of care, reduce barriers, and support clients in achieving viral suppression and overall wellness. Position title will be dependent upon the final candidate’s education and relevant experience.

Essential Functions

Patient Services & Access to Case Management:

  • Conduct initial and ongoing assessments of patient needs, including social determinants of health.
  • Develop and implement individualized, patient-centered resource/care plans.
  • Coordinate referrals and follow-up for medical, mental health, substance use, housing, food, and transportation services.
  • Monitor patient progress monthly and adjust care plans as needed.
  • Assist with insurance applications, medication access, and benefit enrollment.
  • Provide education on HIV, medication adherence, safer sex practices, and health literacy.
  • Conduct off-site visits on occasion, attend patient appointments, and provide informal counseling and advocacy.


Community Engagement & Outreach:

  • Identify and engage individuals living with HIV and high-risk populations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community-based organizations and medical homes.
  • Participate in outreach events, support groups, and community education sessions.
  • Represent the agency at conferences, summits, and professional trainings.


Data Management & Compliance:

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in case notes, assessments, and databases.
  • Ensure compliance with funding requirements and agency protocols.
  • Participate in quality assurance, program evaluation, and internal audits.


Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with interdisciplinary teams including social workers, clinicians, and public health partners.
  • Attend staff meetings, supervision sessions, and collaborative planning activities.
  • Support agency-run events and contribute to a positive team environment.

Minimum Requirements

Clinical Research Professional I:


Required Education
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
Required Experience
Minimum one (1) year relevant experience.
Five (5) years experience and/or other specialized training can fulfill minimum education and experience requirements.

Clinical Research Professional II:


Required Education
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
Required experience
Minimum three (3) years relevant experience.
Seven (7) years experience and/or other specialized training can fulfill minimum education and experience requirements.

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to engage various populations.
  • Knowledge of HIV/AIDS care, entitlement programs, and community resources.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic health record systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Sound judgment, initiative, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and person-centered care.
  • Willingness to work non-traditional hours (evenings/weekends).
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and insurance (if applicable).
