Job Overview
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Cincinnati (UC) seeks to hire an outstanding, broadly experienced, academic Clinical Pathologist to serve as Chief of the Division of Clinical Pathology and Medical Director of the UC Medical Center (UCMC) Clinical Laboratory. The individual selected will serve as the CLIA Laboratory Director of the UCMC Clinical Laboratory, which has undergone major growth and expansion of services over the last five years. Excellent opportunities exist to further build laboratory services in our expanding health system. The UC Medical Center is a leader in healthcare in the community and supports tertiary and quaternary care for its region.
Essential Functions
- Ensuring provision of high-quality lab services across all of its sections.
- Continued accreditation by regulatory agencies.
- Leading and mentoring clinical pathology faculty and residents.
- Providing consultations to faculty in other departments.
- Advising the health system regarding budgeting and capital equipment purchase.
- Other responsibilities as defined by regulatory agencies for this position.
- Clinical service responsibilities vary depending upon the expertise and background of the individual selected.
- Laboratory administration responsibilities will include teaching of pathology residents, medical students, and fellows, and participation in research.
Minimum Requirements
Must have all the following prior to effective date of appointment:
- Medical degree (M.D. or equivalent).
- Completion of a three-year (clinical pathology) or four-year (anatomic and clinical pathology) residency program.
- Board-certification or eligibility in Clinical Pathology.
- Licensure by the State of Ohio Medical Board.
