The University of Cincinnati Lindner College of Business (LCB) delivers academic excellence with an emphasis on experiential learning in a multi-disciplinary environment, adding real-world value to students and the communities they serve. LCB Student Services includes an award-winning team of career development professionals who coach LCB students through their co-op and full-time job searches and cultivate mutually beneficial relationships with employers in the Cincinnati region and beyond. Co-op at Lindner is a game changer, enabling students to engage in multiple, paid, professional work experiences that fit the real and varying needs of employers. The team is agile and connected– coaches nurture relationships with employer partners, advise students, and teach a required career development course. As a result of the team’s stellar work developing relationships with students and employers, they were recently awarded the “Exemplary Career Center Program” by the National Career Development Association (NCDA).

Job Overview

Lindner is seeking applicants to fill two open Career Coach positions. The Career Coach is a passionate advocate for business students and actively leads and contributes to institution-wide efforts to further career development and placement. The Career Coach provides student guidance and career support including connecting students to industry specific employment.

 

Career Coaches are members of the integrated Student Services team, working alongside experts in career development and partnership support, as well as connecting with academic advisors and experiential learning specialists to support cooperative education. Career Coaches provides coaching to Lindner Business students, empowering students to explore their major and career through understanding themselves, gaining experience to complement their academic careers and preparing for experiential opportunities with their job search.

 

We are expecting this position to start January 2026. This position will have the option of a hybrid work schedule (3 days in the office/2 days work from home) for those with a residence within OH/IN/KY following 90 days of training. Residence must be in the tri-state area within reasonable distance to UC Main Campus to have ability to report to campus as required. Remote work arrangements are subject to change in accordance with university policies.

Essential Functions

  • Provides guidance, coaching and support to students throughout their career development process; including major/career exploration; experience building and professional transition.
  • Responsible for educating students through one-on-one appointments, presentations, workshops, and print/virtual resources.
  • Assist students and alumni during individual appointments, walk-in sessions and group settings to provide career development services and resources.
  • Assist students with developing professional skills (e.g., resumes, interviews, networking) and facilitate connections to resources, services and events targeting co-op and job opportunities.
  • Support career education programing and presentations for classroom visits, student groups and new student orientations.
  • Teach career courses to both undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Assist with planning and implementation of career events and job fairs.
  • Implement administrative and student-focused tasks supporting the department’s overall mission
  • May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.

Required Education

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution of higher education is required.

Required Experience

  • One (1) year of professional related work experience is required.
  • Two (2) years of part-time work experience qualifies

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Master's Degree in education, higher education administration, college student development, college student personnel administration, or a closely related field.
  • Experience working in a University Career Services Office
