Job Overview

Investigate, evaluate and resolve HR Accounting, retirement and Benefit system issues, including but not limited to master data integrity and management issues/problems. Act as a liaison between HR and other stakeholders to resolve HR accounting and benefit system issues while ensuring data management and integrity. This is a hybrid role with an expected 2-3 days in the office.
 

Essential Functions

  • Investigate, evaluate, and conduct all retirement system (OPERS, STRS, Alternative Retirement) and Benefits reconciliations and system issues (e.g., master data integrity and management issues/problems). Provide technical research, plan interpretation and educational support to staff.  Act as a liaison between Human Resources/Benefits, other internal departments, and appropriate HR/Benefit vendors, to drive resolution and communicate outcomes to impacted teams and employees. 
  • Provide accounting support for Department of Human Resources, including but not limited to account reconciliations, bill payment, A/P, A/R, and budgeting.
  • Provide data analysis, reporting, and census requests. Responsible for accurate and timely retirement plan reporting and premium payments. Manage health savings account deduction and account reconciliation.  Responsible for annual compliance reporting, as well as identifying, tracking, reporting and updating all OPERS re-employed retirees.  Manage Retiree Premium collection and processing, as well as Leave of Absence premium collection.
  • Responsible for accuracy and timeliness of data sent to external parties including benefits and retirement carriers as well as other HR accounting-related duties.
  • Assist with the implementation of retirement and benefit plan changes including testing of benefit plan data changes.
  • Must maintain confidentiality with high level of integrity. Responsible for accurate and timely storage of HR-related documents in accordance with UC’s Records Retention Schedule.
  • May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.). 
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time. Position is expected to follow a hybrid work schedule, but this expectation may be changed at any time by UC management.

Required Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field.
  • Seven (7) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Experience

Three (3) years of accounting, benefits, analytical or related experience.
