Job Overview
The College of Arts and Sciences is searching for a Business Administrator for the Division of Humanities. This position requires strategic financial oversight and collaboration to support the Division's growth and competitiveness. The Business Administrator reports directly to the Business Office of the college, with an additional reporting line to the Divisional Dean. Furthermore, the role holds accountability to the Department Heads of the Division.
In this capacity, the Business Administrator is responsible for partnering with the Divisional Dean and Department Heads to develop and implement financial strategies aimed at growing the academic departments and enhancing their competitive standing. Overseeing all financial matters within the Division of Humanities, the Business Administrator ensures effective management of budgets and financial resources while leading and managing financial staff to foster a collaborative and efficient work environment. A key aspect of this role involves working closely with the academic side of the Division, guiding all financial matters to align with academic goals and initiatives.
The ideal candidate will possess strong financial acumen and a deep understanding of financial management principles and practices, particularly in an academic setting. They will demonstrate the ability to develop and execute strategic financial plans that support the Division’s academic and competitive goals. Additionally, the Business Administrator should exhibit strong leadership skills in managing teams and collaborating with diverse stakeholders, along with excellent communication skills to effectively convey financial strategies and insights to academic and administrative leaders. In this critical role, the Business Administrator will have the opportunity to significantly impact the Division's financial health and strategic direction, contributing to advancing the Division's mission and enhancing its reputation as a leading Division of Humanities.
This role operates as part of team. Assigned responsibilities are subject to change at the discretion of management and the needs of the team, business unit or division.
This is an in-person role, with the possibility of transitioning to a hybrid work arrangement at a later date.
Essential Functions
• Partners with the Business Office & Divisional Dean on the yearly budget.
• Oversees the Budget and is accountable for all spend in adherence with budget.
• Oversees all Grant spend and ensures spend is in line with the grant’s procedures.
• Oversees all financial processes and leads team to deliver on-time and quality results.
• Leads the team on any continuous process improvement initiatives for the Division.
• Oversees processes set by the College Business Office &/or Central UC and coordinates with team members to ensure adherence.
• Partners with Department Heads and Divisional Dean on all purchasing priorities and makes recommendations for major capital expenditures.
• Oversees the HR process for the Division including all hiring spend, time and attendance, payroll, and immigration process.
• Responsible for team development, performance management, and resolving any team conflicts.

Required Education
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field
Seven (7) years of related work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement
Required Experience
Three (3) years of financial and administrative experience, including one (1) year of previous supervisory experience
Additional Qualifications Considered
Three (3) years of financial experience within a Higher Ed setting, including one (1) year of previous supervisory experience.
