Job Overview

As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the UC College of Medicine has a reputation for training best-in-class health care professionals and developing cutting-edge procedures and research that improves the health and clinical care of patients.

The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, Department of Radiation Oncology, invites applications for staff biostatisticians (Senior Research Associate) with expertise in clinical oncology trial design and outcomes analyses for a growing research program.

Current areas of focus include prospective investigator-initiated trials, correlative outcomes, quality of life outcomes, and retrospective analyses. However, the department has a wide range of research interests spanning pre-clinical assessments of drug efficacy to computational biology to 'big data' and pan-omic analyses.

The candidate will work in collaboration with various departmental faculty members, in coordination with other collaborators across the University of Cincinnati Cancer Center (UCCC) as needed. The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine Department of Radiation Oncology, along with UC Health, are leaders in basic, translational, and clinical cancer research and cancer treatment (

The staff member will be housed in the Department of Radiation Oncology within the Barrett Cancer Center, near the UC Medical Center and College of Medicine. Tele-work may be permitted on a case-by-case basis.


Essential Functions

The position requires:

  • Using statistical software and other approaches to organize, analyze, and interpret research data.
  • Using statistical software to assist clinicians and scientists with project design, analysis, and reporting with a small educational and training component.
  • Participating in the development of statistical methodology, study design, and data analysis in coordination with collaborators.
  • Formatting data for reports, tables, and other documents.
  • Potentially programming and maintaining complex statistical databases.


Minimum Requirements

  • Master's degree in statistics, data science or biostatistics.
  • Work experience assisting with clinical trial design, number needed to treat analyses, and survival outcomes assessment.


Required Education

Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.

Required Experience

Three (3) years of experience in related field, process or discipline.

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • PhD in in statistics, data science or biostatistics.
  • Proficiency with R and/or SPSS preferred.
  • Ability to complete milestones and multitask across several projects will be essential.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Effective written and oral communications skills.
