The UC Department of Emergency Medicine features the oldest residency training program in the United States and was founded in 1970. The UC Department of Emergency Medicine has enjoyed a reputation of excellence in the field for over 50 years and continues to attract top medical students. The Department of Emergency Medicine is recruiting a full-time faculty member.  This position will support the University’s mission and commitment to excellence and diversity in our students, faculty, staff, and all our activities.  Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience. 

Essential Functions

  • A faculty member on the clinical track is expected to participate in the clinical and academic teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Conduct research.
  • Participate in scholarly and other professional or creative activities. 
  • This individual will serve as an attending physician in the emergency department at University of Cincinnati Medical Center, West Chester Hospital, or The Jewish Hospital. 

Minimum Requirements

  • MD/DO
  • Ohio Medical license
  • 4-year Emergency medicine residency training, or 3-year Emergency Residency Training plus 1-year Emergency Medicine fellowship, or 3-year Emergency Residency Training plus 1 year of experience as a Physician.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine.
  • One year of experience working in an academic setting after residency, or the equivalent teaching and research experience.

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Demonstrated interest and accomplishment in emergency medicine clinical patient care.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills; chief residency training or similar accomplishment during residency training.
  • Demonstration of interest and accomplishment in bedside clinical teaching of medical students and residents (emergency medicine as well as other clinical services).
  • Academic productivity such as original research papers, abstracts, and chapters.
